Calidris pusillus 21 June Meade River Coal Mine, 157°02'5"W, 70°29'N. Alaska Found a 3rd nest with 4 eggs on the census plot, in Ely 6,6 square. A little action on both sides of the plot along the river, but birds do not seem to be on the plot here any longer. One seen along the [illegible] Birds have moved out into the lake basin. Made in the evening, boat ride. The dunes at the "ox bow" E of camp contain several large pools which have drained, and Semi-pal. footprints were numerous in the wet sand, though none were seen in this area here. Island from this area, the ground is wet and almost solid Cauy. Here Semi-pals were common and drying activity. One flushed from the grass edge of a pool, and several seen in flight well out in the nearby area. 23 June Birds have moved out into the lake basin rather extensively. Two seen along the path to Lake Agassiz by the CQ Wannigan and at least 6 in the SW pool. Only one seen on upland sandy all other out on the Cauy humps and dykes where they ran about actively pecking at the ground. To get the #s (5 in 10 feet) Bow, they must use non-defended feeding areas, as there are non- breeding birds present locally now. Little song and no display noted. 25 June Common in the lake basin opposite the north Huffe. Most were in the 2nd terrace level where they worked either along the edges of bares marshes
