Calidris pusillus - 6 16 June Meade River Coal Mine, 15°02'54"W, 70°02'9"N, Alaska very quiet in the afternoon until about 4:30. Hoot song must be over by now. Birds near L. Agassiz seem to be along the lake margin and in the Cedar pool in the old lake flat. We flushed a bird off a nest which we could not find, though we did get intense distraction display. Very quiet on the census plot, but saw a chase involving two birds and a ? pair together. Not coming to feed. Mostly at the pond edges as usual. 17 June Quiet near the village but still a little action near the North part of the village plots. Saw one perched on a 12" high willow, where there may be working the exposed river flats for ? A couple heard along hole Itmakok and birds seen near the center of Camp pools. A few along the W side lake Agassiz. Numerous on the far side of the Meade opposite Village flats, where Steve found a 4 egg nest. 19 June Found two 4-egg nests on the census plot along the Snow, and Lotti found another about 120 m. N of the plot. Saw 2 birds in a chase with a peatral Sandpiper, but little song during the day. None seen feeding much. Two feeding on mudflat along the Meade South of camp in the evening, but only one pair on the high bluffs 2 Mi. S of camp. They may well be localized in the low-lying areas due. 20 June Little in evidence, mostly in the N. part of the Village flats. None seen feeding.
