Calidris pusillus -5 10 June Meade River Coal Mine, 157°02.5'W, 70°02.9'N, Alaska Actively displaying in the village. Most wing up-taity and some aggressive song. Saw an attempted copulation poorly in the afternoon. Sec. bird singing near the census plot. Feeding mostly along the edge of Lany pools away from the village and one of the common calidris here, if no the countrout. 11 June 1-2 pairs along the lake basin S of South ridge, the B's singing actively. They chose 10 to 50 meters up and sing for 2-3 minutes at a time, covering an irregular circuit, over a large area. Birds widely spread but conspicuous. No actualizing seen. 12 June A few, 1 or 2 pairs along lake Agassiz and one near the lake on Village creek. One seen chasing a Western Sandpiper. Such chases not uncommon, ? because of the similar size and color, they are more specific confusion them with other species. More really like like they are meeting. 4 B's get into the census plot. Saw one long fight between stake 2.5 and 3.5. The B's circled near each other, one facing the other, then one jumped on the other, fluttering its wings slowly. One bird game away. After 3-4 minutes of this (6± encounters), they quit. Very quiet and little motion between fight bouts. Lots of song in the area all evening. crowd, the mouse crew discharge's display.
