F. D. Benedikt 1965 Gavia adamsii 5 June Meade River Coal Mine, 157°25'W, 70°29'N, Alaska. One flying over going east about 3 AM, silent. An unidentified loon seen over camp at 8 AM. 6 June One flying south along the Meade River in the A.M. 8 June One in flight going east in the afternoon and awaltis in the evening. 9 June One flying over an unidentified loon seen in flight probably this species. One over in the evening. 10 June One flying over in the A.M. and a large loon seen in the afternoon. 11 June One on a longish lake in from Voltage creek. Flew off before it got to the lake shore, whereas the Arctics stayed. 27 June One on the large lake at the head of village creek. Very shy as usual. Nice to know they are still around.
