Colidius pusillus 17July Brown, Alaska - when a jaeger flew over the area the adult would fly up to 20-35 feet close to the jaegers and circle giving a call not the motor boat song, and when it landed it would fly to two areas when I suspected young to be. The "tochov" note may be a warning note to the young, and the chicks saw crowded somewhat clumsily to the adult colour it gave a series of low, soft, short trills "nu nu nu". The other chicks could move fairly well and the f was very excited when I caught one to photograph it. They crouched only once and ran when I got to within 6-7 feet. Hamilton said either nest 11a12 is butilinig (1 egg, 1 piped, 1 chick - but plot Nest 12 with one chick out). Nest 1 was had 2 chicks and 1 egg. I went here again about 7 and found the same - 1 chick in, 1 about 1 foot away and 1 egg - I took 1 photo and ran out of film; went back to the lab, reloaded the camera and returned to find 3 adults in the area and both chicks out. Eventually both chicks and a brooding parent were found and photographed on the nest and the odd adult disappeared. Nest 6 butilied and 1+ adult in the area but no chicks saw. 19July Nest 13 hatched, the young as the nest. When the brod jaegers flew by the adults towered and circled, often coming close to the jaeger. A pair which acted like they had young were found just east of the weaved wool from tree. 20July Nest 3 was empty and there was at least one adult fairly far from the nest in the area.
