P. De Benedick 1965 Calidris pusilla 28 June Baudro Alarby - (cont.) are not unusual near the feeding area. Saw two males "court displaying" over Micomet Marsh and still a few birds permit near Nest 3. The distraction display involves a crouch, the wings folded but dropped and the tail down but spread. The bird looks back over its side as it goes off and calls a high pitched descending "weezaah" lasting about 1/3 of a second repeatedly. 29 June Found 3 new nests today, two near Br.Hon's area along VOTH Creek with 2 eggs each and one with 3 eggs Nof Micomet Marsh. No change in the other nests except that Nest 3 now has 3 eggs and was attuned by a bird that gave a strong distraction display. There are probably 3-5 more pairs along the road in the VOTH-Britton's area and as many between the lab and Micomet Marsh. All seem to be paired. Saw a flock of 5 fly into the Marshy area by the FAA towers in the afternoon. Saw a mole worried about by pursuers stop and vigorously chase a Baird's on two occasions in Micomet Marsh, and the reverse in the VOTH area. 30 June Although the species was fairly numerous in Central Marshes they were not tightly flanked, and pairs were occasionally seen to leave "the group" and fly out
