Araniace interspers
22 June Barrow, Alaska - there appeared to be somewhat
more settled birds due the Britton's Area region but
no flakes seen. Birds fed in wet areas by turning
over cuttings and somewhat ripping into the moss
below; the patches of moss exposed appear to be about 2x4
inches size; birds seem to catch something in the
turning motion but also appear to peck in the newly
exposed area.
23 June Birds seem to day seemed more interested in flying
over than doing anything else. Present close to ARL.
24 June Single bird seen in flight Today in the AM in the
area visited yesterday. Birds seen near Elson
25 June Scattered pairs were seen almost everywhere today
but very little vocalization was heard considering
how much they usually make.
26 June A very Noisy pair heard in the W part of Holme's
Marsh and a pair still at the Animal hub.
27 June Still two by the animal hub. Found a nest with 4
eggs in the Voth area, located on a rather bare area
Nest A.I. (high polygon). The eggs were dark shiny olive quills
a bit brighter than their background. The Ternstone was
seen to fly off the nest to attack a jaeger which
flies over, and no distraction display
28 June Very inconspicuous air this area from the hub to Gasline Ridge.
