P.DeBenedictis 1965 Gravia artica 12 June Barrow, Alaska - one seen flying west over the Family hoggon. Didn't find by the black backet throat, white underparts, no distinct markings seen. 13 June a black thrashed bird that looked black above seen flying over the basin area in the afternoon, couldn't see the back to check the white patches but didn't believe it to have been this species rather than Red-ths. 18 June One seen flying NW over Family hoggon. 23 June One flying E over the Micronet marsh much lower than they other seen. 24 June One flying N along Elson Lagoon about 2 PM. 26 June One which gave a lowcel, Corpiam-Teris - like "squarrrk" was seen flying N over the hab and and a silent bird was seen flying over the Ooth area. 1 July 30 July One seen flying silently over Micronet Marsh. 2 July A pair and a lone bird seen flying over Central Marsh going WE. The pair was silent but the lone bird was giving, a muffled version of the "cockle call"? 8 July 3 seen flying silently together N over Central Marsh. 5 July one flying S along Family hoggon in the evening. 6 July 3 seen flying N silently over the edge of Elson Lagoon 7 July 3 seen fly N + 2 flying S over the VOTH area. 11 July about 8 seen in the IKROAVIK region, including several birds on the water and one nest with two eggs was found. The nest was built off dead grass and was made like in form. Three parent approached us cautiously
