Ploviialis dominica -5
9 June Mecelle River Cool Mine, 15°02'5"W, 78°02'9"N. Alaska
None near camp in the AM and only 1-2 f's along the
creek. A T on the village plot, and a close followed
by a flight song seen there. Saw them out in
a shallow Carr pond for the first time today,
and judging from Barrow last year, this will become
more common. Now the best areas are 8-11/12
moist slopes going into the lake basins and
streams. A couple of pairs (much display) in
the lake basin W of the census plot and one went
by loosely associated with Red Phalaropes.
10 June Mostly near the village. A T by south creek. Not
at all noisy.
18 June A T heard near south creek about noon. Nine seen.
Very obscure.
12 June A T by the 1st lake up U Waye creek. At least
2 and possibly 3 T's near the census plot and
a little song flight observed. Fairly quiet. They
are out in the damp moany flat where the ground
is hummocky, and not on the ridges any more.
16 June A couple of pairs along the North part of L. Agassiz
and 25' and at on the census plot. A little song
8.5/1.
17 June One pair at the south part lake Iturwale, more
conspicuous by lake Agassiz, where two-3 pairs
present.
19 June Female nest with 4 eggs on the census plot
As expected it was out in the open, dark rufous-colored
