Pluvialis dominica -4 5 June Meracle River Coal Mine, 152°25'W, 70°29'N, Alaska best I can tell best on the many covered flats and slopes near the lake basin, where they feed out in open areas. Out two occasion I saw a plain brown longspur feeding near them 6-7 occasions, until the longspurs flew, and then stood quietly. little song flight or noise, all birds seen were evidently paired. 6 June The local birds feeding around camp, now mostly by the CO2 warrian. the river bluff now being used by a♀ Black belly as yesterday. little song flight. Birds near the village creek as usual. About the only difference in this area is that the Black bellies are are dryer, high polygonal areas, while the Golden are on flat wet to saturated areas. No evidence of interaction between the two species. 7 June little in evidence, mostly near the village and by camp. 8 June Only one♂ S of camp, near Fried creek. Near the village several ♀'s present and possibly a few non-settled birds going by. After one short chore saw a prolonged song flight, one of the few I have recently. A couple of its on Village ridge. The species remains quite scarce here, and mostly localized along the river. They now seem to be in the smaller places than the Black bellies.
