P. De Benedetti 1965 Cavia stellata 25 June Meade River Coal Mine, 157025'W, 70029'N, Alaska Ray caught a beautifully plumaged bird in his fish net in the Meade River during the day. Its eyes were deep reddish brown (mahogany) and the bill black, the culmen pale-yellow brown. The legs and feet are black externally and internally on the joint, and the internal surface is blue white, becoming pale blue centrally. It is a lovely cullis, frozen to be prepared later. To 3 July. Red throats seen frequently in and along the River, but less commonly on the lake inland, Lake Agassiz and the area across from the North shore, being exceptions. Little calling now, and the birds are very commonly seen in pairs. Total #s in the area probably about = Arctic, (but they are seldom as concentrated as the Arctics were in late June. 8 July A couple on Lake Agassiz and two figures. 11 July Two on Lake Agassiz. They soon left the area
