Squatarola squatarola
20 June Barrow, Alaska - a bird in very mottled
Plumage, the back actually appearing rather brownish,
and the black of the heart & face very mottled, was
seen on the continuation of the Beach Ridge
W of M. Salt Lagoon, later one over heard but not
seen one the N part of S. Salt lagoon. The bird
seem feed gently near a Golden Plover, the two
ignoring each other;
24 June One in good plumage feeding in flooded
part of Central Marsh near a Golden Plover, the two
not bothering each other.
25 June Still one in same area of Central Marsh; a sings
was heard and then seen flying about 150 ft up
from the Lead S over M. Salt Lagoon about 6:15 pm.
28 June a Very handsome plumaged bird in Nicomet Marsh
According to McLean, it was present yesterday night.
29 June One seen flying E over the VORTH area towards
Central Marsh in the late afternoon.
30 June Heard one flying over Central Marsh in the morning.
4 July A single bird in good plumage seen with 2 Pluvialis
in VORTH slough and another with a large flock of Plover &
Dow. Either in Central Marsh; both were S. Black.
5 July One out in VORTH slough and at least 4 (1 sings
and a group of 3) along the east side of Central Marsh.
The 12 was above, the others with golden plovers.
6 July 3 in good plumage in the same part of Central Marsh.
12 July One heard over Family Lagoon in the evening,
13 July a group of 5 adults flying just over Nicomet Marsh.
