Clangula hyponomea
28 June Meade River Coal Mine, 157°25'W, 70°29'N. Alaska
There is much 3° clearing on the rivers and in the lakes, but
3° still clearly territorial in most areas. No nests found.
27 June There were 4 pairs in De Longe Lakes opposite
flats opposite camps. The 3°s were clearing land no
nests.
29 June Very scarce inland, not seen except in
Lake Agassiz and a 3° in the 1st lake cup village
creek.
4 July Most seen were lone males out on the larger lakes.
One pair on Lake Agassiz. Still haven't found
any nests.
5 July 2-3 3°s in the flats opposite North Shore, a 3°
in the river in the evening.
11 July Up to now very inconspicuous and occurs only
lone 3°s or lone 3°s seen by some of the lakes.
A group of 10 birds including both sexes in
the large lake near the junction of South
Ridge and the Meade River. At 12° group I
have seen in some trips. Still can't find any
nests.
