Dec. 17 Buenos Aires. Party for Pablo Rumbraza and of Beatriz Goldstein's apartment. About 8 of my 1964 Ecology class were there! Plus Jorge Robinowitz, Brown and Dr. [illegible] from Krovets lab.
Dec. 19-22. To Squagui and visit with Maurice and Diane Rumboll. They have seen a striped monodelphis here but have not caught it. We saw 2 agoutis, porcupine tracks. The difference between the Brazilian side of the river and the argentine side is dramatic. On the Brazilian side the forest inside the park is much more mature, but outside the park is thickly populated and cultivated.
Returned to Buenos Aires and bought old postcards at 2 shops in a Galeria de Cuentos 846.
Dec. 23 Bariloche. Sunny, warm, windy. Rosa mosqueta blooming and some mendo. Drove to Nahuel Huapi and took photos of mendo highlighted between the terminal moraine and the road to Tehuel Molod.
Dec. 24 Bariloche. Sunny, warmer, windy. Drove up with Otto and the Kelly sisters. A few camay blooming low down; the forest full of camay plants high up but none blooming there. Very few with buds, even. Many large trees with leaf galls - maybe their most important contribution.
