Museum specials caught under Palo, all in two
burrows, almost all under Salsipuea brush. Sets
of Salsipuea twigs cut by tucos, then resprouting
from below the cut. Some lesser Salsipuea bushes
have real leaves, others just the twisted gray-green
twigs. Sets of big black beetles lumbering around.
Then drove to Cordón Bonete and camped
near where the track up to the Epeloserre brook
off from the dirt lane. Sets of Salsipuea here and
tucos signs. One big Salsipuea on its own mound
of earth had several twigs cut larger than pencils,
and one of them was cut more than 12 inches above
the ground; the tucos must have climbed up into the
branches.
Weather mixed sun, clouds, occasional hail,
windy until sunset. Temp. at 8pm 34°F.
Mar. 10 Night mostly clear, fierce wind came up in middle
of the night, minimum -4°C. Morning clear, cold breeze.
The net traps trap lines had 1 also pantlho, around camp
1 tucos. Grid network kept 1 also pantho at I7; topes
#99 but forgot to weigh, I set it x
Checked grid in afternoon - nothing. Then put out more
snag traps under Salsipuea at the 10km WSW Comallo
hazelly. During the day caught 1 tucos and 1 also pantlho
there. Also put out some more traps in Salsipuea
around camp.
Day was scattered sun, cold, and windy windy all day.
Temp at noon 45°, at 2:30 50°, at 7pm 45°,
