in mine - casa on the south side of the Rio Curiche and the rest in rich deep soilno - large snuth lots of logs (on the north side). very clear. May 11 Sagueno Verde morning clear, -3C, but clouds soon gathered. left at daybreak with Victor + Boletsky and Marcello for the Escorial, nice trail through bamboo, Coixine, Reoli, & longa then emerged into a valley with fresh pinnies and many hastene's / sharp jumbled fresh lava with lots of hidobolo. Bushes around edger are Berberis, espinanegra, ephebra, strawberry and ?choura?. Saw hystropath droffings ad cuttings of ephebra. It was 1hr 20min hike, altitude by Boletsky's altimeter was 1140m, I set about 15 steel trifs, 15 MS, and 3 shenours. Marcello set 15 shenour + MS. passed one clutery araucaria en route. Back to camp at noon. Marcello traps around camps in mine/guar/strawberry caught 1 shenour. Mine caught 2 Org and 5 also longt. afternoon mostly cloudy. This caught to be known as last end of Sagueno Verde, Evening calm and warmish, May 12 morning almost clear, no frost. Hiked up to the lava field at daybreak, 1 hr. My traps had 3 octedors + many also longi, marcello had many also longi; total 13 also longi. The lava field covers maybe 50 haw. Heard a buzzing owl last night at camp, saw one of the Escorial. Also, Marcello caught a first hairy arnoldillo 5 yards from the tent yesterday. Marcello's traps line in the mine caught 2
