1974 I tried to repay him for his help by taking a Polaroid picture, but the camera refused to work (shutter wouldn't open). So we headed in Puerto Chela and drove north to Atiquipa - which looked much drier than last year. Everyone we meet said the same thing - there were bunches of mice last year, but this year almost none. We drove east up a side road near Atiguipa, and will spot tonight here at least. The creek bed is under cultivation - a series of chacras - but the stone walls along the sides of the Grinelie rather shield us from the hillside maggot and interesting trapping. Set out 20 foldy Sherman's in the gully behind the old droppings under cactus complexes. Pair burning owls tent. Little biting flies. March 24, 1974 near Atiguipa Peru Sunday Traps untouched. OP caught several Rattus in storewall, and a boy showed up with another Rattus to sell us. He decided to try another night for Bryzonp and Chyfsti since from the burning, our sites we knew that there were other things here (including Marmosa). So we waited out the day - rather uncomfortably, and set out another couple of trap lines. My 30 snap traps went along a stone wall & then along a fence separating a weed choked olive orchard for a weedy ex-field. Little biting gnats contributed to our discomfort, and the flies were also unpleasant. Our camp was at the convergence of numerous fields to the SE from so that there was much traffic past no people,
