Dec 1981 Nov.29 morning warm, partly cloudy. Pan trope at 10 a.m. with Felipe, Daniel, and a student drive alone. Nothing in the trofe in the largo forest, 2 alcedo longifolis in the meadow, 1 piece 2 or 3 spring-fly (Reithredon?), and 3 a.longifolis in the edge of the lenga acufarrosa. Nov.30 Went out to INTA to deliver our report. They gave me for identification some picked mice from Wallin Rabuda, Estancia Llamuco, 30km. W Zapala, Neuquen; 1 Phyllote darwinii, 3 Elymodonta, 1 alcedo sp (a large, short-tails species, I not noted). They had been poisoned, Radio interview in evening. Dec.1 Morning clear & calm. Some carnivore droffings brought in by Manuel Christie from the upper Rio Mirihan even up to 30mm in diameter and contained here bones broken into little pieces. In afternoon drove to Estancia San Ramon, 23km ENE Barilec and got permission from the administrator Don Otto Bittermann to camp and set trofe. Camped along the arroyo San Ramon. Anta put trofe in londer+ trees along the Discarta cardifolia creek (Berberis, Chocag?, poplar) and in brush-grass + clover hilly fields, some rocky. Lots of lush green grass around camp and a big green seep across the road from camp. I put out 4 different lines: 1) Reithredon line at the edge of the big green seep among bunchgrass + herbs + grass where there was lots of reithredon droffings and holes, 6 MS and 6 shamows laced with fresh strawberry jam, supplemented with rolled oats. 2) Alternating shamow & MS
