10 Pigeons & 21 Sparrow hawk pellets collected at the Club and two contained small lizard remains, no mouse bones, some insect parts. Nov. 27 at 7:30 p.m. put out 65 museum specials, 3 gump traps, and 9 Sherman's at Estación Perito Moreno. Almost all of them at the margin of the lake (reeds, willows, grass) but some in desert. Slept about 2 km beyond. Nov. 28 night clear, light frost, no wind, heard barn owls. Lots of bird activity at dusk & dawn. Traps contained 7 Oryzomye, 1 also Kentorhines, 6 also Locgi. No Euneomys despite captures by owl in cliff above. Several traps spring (birds? or rats?). Nov. 29 Drove to Laguna Blanca near Zofala, there, with Christie family. Hot, sunny. The country north of El Leon Cera became increasingly dry and desert-y, reeds became more, Cortadera (Boufer grass clumps) became common in many places, and sheep became replaced by goats. Saw 2 rheas with turkey sized young (7 or more) at about the half-way point. Camped at the unpecciled Posteria on its south side of the lake. I put out about 40 traps in sand desert and ants about 40 ad cast some Sherman's, lots of lizards, found a dead barn owl and a green jay. Saw a shunk at dusk. It charged toward me, stood on its hind feet and did a little dance (several times), & I caught by hard 2 arms while it was and how brown.
