forest. Lots of big dead trees and big logs, plus seedlings, but everything rather open, almost park like. Lots of lilies (anemone) some grass, lots of Barberia persici and chaura? Lots of little digging places, and some earth core left by the snow. I set about 35 mouse traps, 1 jump, and 9 big Sherman. Anta set 42 mouse spears and 5 jump traps. Full moon. nov.23 Night clear. My traps caught 1 live notornyx oedicnemus, 1 live Abor longi, and 1 dead also longi. Anta had 2 Notornyx muscrosuph, both in jump traps. No Ogygonyx? I dug with shovel for 20 minutes looking for invertabates for the live Notornyx. Found only 1 small earthworm and 3 or 4 very small grubs. Beautiful light black soil & also a truffle about four diam. nov.24 Camped at the Club Andino cabin in Arroyo Corral on Dolly Frey's estancia. Sombody/reflex along stream, scattered tree + shrubs along stream, hillsides news, bunchgrass, and Colletta & Barberia. Dolly Frey again mentioned invasions of moles "no told or only a short tail". I put out 40 mouse spears and 15 Shermons in a small sunny/brushy area below the swimming pool, across news/bunchgrass desert, and mostly along a tiny stream through this desert. The stream accompanied by a fringe of green grass in places, then dries up. Before dark catched 1 Abor longi and 1 Abor pantho. Sparrow bank? Puping owl pellets in camp contained only lizard remains plus a smattering of insects. and larger pellets from a cliff nearly contained 3 Eucosmya, 4 Audiscups, 1 Phyllotis, 2 Notornyx not Oedicnemus, 1 Paithra, 1 Eligmodonta, 4 Abor longi, 3 Abdon pantho.
