small llao - lloas laying on trail off from river. Several [illegible] corbus saplings only 4 or 5 feet tall have mudas with small llao - lloas. No sign of grazing or grids. Dec 6 Rain most or all night. Ran grid at 7 and tagged 8 also longi and 1 big noto. Antac tropha caught 1 juvng, 1 juv. also obsrved 3, 2 ab. longi, and 1 wrm(2 tropha). also 2 abo longi during the daytime yesterday. In the afternoon I excavated about 2 m2 of turf under wire and bamboos, the turf containing grass, clover, + cadillo. Unearched 2 small grubs, 17 of the big sucand grubs, and two big orange-brown/purple that could wriggle. All were about 5" deep. 17 of the big Sucands plus 1 of the brown /purple weighed 57 g. A captive big noto loved the larvae. avg wt. 3.3 g. Rain all day. Seen for about 10 min, but it druggled during that. Checked grid at 4 pm. I also rested. Dec 7 Rain all night. Ran grid at 7 a.m; 3 noto and 9 abo longi, 2 of the notos dead in the trap. Rain or drizzle all morning. Checked grid at 4 p.m., 1 noto more and 3 abo longi. We never seem to get much into the center of the grid, which is the most open with little bamboo & barberry but lots of Cacha de Cabra. Rain all afternoon. Surveying layout of grid. The columns (1 to 10) run up and down the slope, the rows B to J run across (notew row A). There is a stake at each B, E, and J in all rows, with an aluminum tag.
