comped, without bro[redacted]s about 5 miles down the road from the
mine to Barloche. Night clear, without, praisele, wind.
may 5 morning clear, calm. Temp: 12° F. Also from no brakes,
car wouldn't start. Used garofe and sun to warm motor,
left about 11 A.M. no cars passed.
stopped on the flats near Estancia Cordero to retrieve 3
two traps set yesterday: 1 sprung, 2 with lucos. Got
brakes fixed in Barlocho; then in late afternoon went to
Estancia Jones at the spit of the lake. They referred us to
a small farm near Villa Augustura. Drove in that direction
and camped in cyprus - mottlefogus about half-way there;
aunt set about 25 traps by flashlight and I skimmed two.
night partly clear, later overcast.
may 6 min temp 33° F. Drove to the farm Are-sen-ecel 3 km
east of Villa Augustura. They seemed surprised that no bats
were under the eavesboards of an unused cabin. Droppings
fell out when the owner beat on the boards with a hammer.
asked around Villa Augustura for bats; then drove back to
Barlocho, looking under the baks of big dead mottlefogus
on the way. Checked into Hotel Amorequua, hunt tomorrow.
may 7 Rain all night, not much wind. Went with Claudio Bionero
and Isabel Carrola to the Club Andino camp across the
highway from the Dolly Freg estancia. At the base of the
cliff south of the swimming pool was a fine crawl-in cave
with crickets - but no bats. Other caves nearly, even too
shallow. Claudio reported seeing a v[redacted]ear here; he calls
it an aridula. We saw zero colorado. He also describes a
rock chimney on a rock outcrop on the ridge south of here
