Decided to look for caves up the Rio Troful Valley, so took the road into the south side of the river. Investigated several places, one of them quite good: about 15 m deep, with a curve to make it fairly dark, ceiling about 16 ft. high, no bats. Camped on the Rio Curin Wanganos about a ½ km down where it enters the Rio Troful. Very steep canyon with cyprus and barberry, rocks, some turf and bushes along the river. Spent out about 25 museums, specks under boulders, fallen logs, along a cliff. Antio put about 30 under barberry & other trees near the river. Some sprinkles about 5-7 p.m.; then calm. Many goats came to the eastern at 8 p.m. 9°. This cave is 4 km W Confluencia. May 4 morning clear 36°. My traps caught 1 Oryzomy & 1 aibdon longifil's. Antio caught 18 Oryzomy and 2 albdom. (37 trips). To Estancia Condor (Sunny, temp 8° at 2:30). They have started putting additions on the house and workmen had opened up one end of the attic and were hammering away. No bats. The owner said they were there March 1 when the workmen started. Sicked up two mamies. Then drove up to La Mina Pico Quevedo, an abandoned coal mine. Only one shaft is open. It goes back maybe 50 yards with a branch; mouldy timbers, temp 6°, no bats. The caretaker never saw bats in the mine. Breke cylinder sprung a leak at the mine. We are now
