our camp, then all short-leaved farther east; Then drove south thinking to go east on the road along Zogo-Trofui, but a bridge was out so we footstroked and drove east on the Zogo Malquima road. Hardly any bamboos on this route.
Camped on the Rio Caleufi below some big eroded bluffs,
26km NW Confluencia. Habitat seems quite arid. Lots of
cerastodrum + Berberis, but large patches of sage brush.
I put 27 large Sherman across meadows and robbed
brush. Ante put 40 traps in bushes around camp
and in scattered cipres, Notro, Spinosasima, and other shrubs.
Dec 2 Night clear, frost on windshield, morning clear. My traps
held 2 also Dorigi, 1 Elguodantus, 1 also fortula. Ante
had 6 Oryz and 6 also longi. Phrygules ate Notro blossoms.
Drove on down to Confluencia. Ante and, no bamboos.
Notro blooming. Lunch near Confluencia, then up the
Zogo Trofui road westward. Saw one patch of bamboos in
a steep gulch about 2 km east of the lake, then no more
until a couple of km west of the west end of the lake.
Met mate with the park guard at the end of the lake (Hugo Rossi),
than drove west to the intersection, then north about 4 km to
20km N Villa la angostura. Camped in a small grassy clearing
ringed by dense bamboo. One large clump was dead, mostly dead
at least 2 yrs but I came with lots of last year's flowers, and a few
surviving ones with no flowers. I put out 35 traps, alternating
big Sherman and MS. Traps all in dense bamboos but near
edges. Ante put out 25 m/m new bamboo (big stems)
and 10 small sherman in either bamboos or Berberis in the clearing.
Evening calm, clear, Mygla and a larger set playing
