N/E Tarata Soft.12.
Soft. 16 Walked up hill east of town, above irrigation the brush is
fairly thick, almost as "lush" as at the aseguia camp at 11,500
ft'. Very dry and in the absence of aequina, hardly any
birds. Caught a "pot" striped Liothemis and saw several others.
minim temp under shelter in our patio was >80; light frost
on green alfalfa leaves in fields.
Soft. 17 Left 9 a.m. for desert camp on Tavera road. Had effected to
camp amidst the big hydras cacti but when we got there we were
discouraged by scarcity of other vegetation, so moved back up the
hill to where the yellow flowered erisus is dominant (although a
few hydracostine are visible on the slope to the west and above) us.
Laid out a trafficking grid but was caught by dorburns before
I could get more than about half the traps out. Saw a large
digard, parakeets, 2 or more spp. lhumens (including letoyara), doves,
a yellow - folled finch, and a small furvaridus may have been barn
out.
Soft. 18 Night clear, calm, minim 460. Grid has 15 meter spacing. Ear-tags
