oatmeal, 2 large Sherman's, and 2 steel traps. The pump to large Shermans were at a road-retaining wall where there was a large accumulation of croco- sized droppings. All sets were at times below road or retaining walls. Jacklighting at 8 pm saw nothing, but one of the big Shermans had a big Abrocana in it. ants put out museum specials and small Shermans at Queva dumps and rocky places. Sept. 11 Night clear + calm. -4° inside car at 6 a.m., ice in bucket. ants caught 1 audisump, 3 lb. magister, 1 lb. darvini, and 2 Bolomys berlefschii - all except 1 Bolomys in museum specials. I caught darvini, magister, all sky shining. The darvini looks like rupestria. Sunny all day. Put out 25 large Shermans along road walls below camps, bailed most with cracked corn + oats + Scidophyllum blossoms. Also left the Abrocana trap in place, and the pit traps. A few feet from the Abrocana trap this morning was a Ph. magister and this evening at 8 pm a Bolomys berlefschii was in the Abrocana trap in the wall. Sept 12 My traps held 7 mice: 1 Bolomys berlefschii (in to Abrocana trap) Ph. darvini, Ph. magister. Visible tracks in the road below camps. ants with 20 large Shermans among "natural" rocks, gravels etc north of the pampa caught 1 Bolomys and 1 darvini. Temp inside car in my sleeping bag at 6 a.m. was -6°, temp outside -2°, ice in pots.
