aug.30 having arranged to do shiffling today (monday) we found that it was a fiesta day, and couldn't even get car greased x stained slides etc. visited Sacahuaman.
aug.31 left about 9 a.m. ad drove too between Santa Rosa Chupinbanvilla and camped on a flat bunch-grass plain. Stopped for lunch about 2 p.m. near a stream heated by hot springs. Numerous Cavia tschudii running among large bunches of a very spring grass, caught a large &. Violaena under a stone, he was warmish and bit, but saw none outside in spite of the fact that it was sunny; altitude about 13,000'. Much threshing activity between Vres and above Cheocylpe. Biggest change from previous trips is the large number of cattle at both low and high altitudes. Cows where I would have expected alpacas or sheep.
sept.1 night clear + cold; 15°F at sunrise. Drove to share with various stops for fishing (more) shiffling, and car lubrication in juvosa. Camped about 2 miles up river from share under dry large-plumed fields.
