Dec. 2
Discussion in a room with Aldo Brodani, his wife Maria
Aleina?, and Jorge Amaya who have been working on hare
and rabbits for INTA. At 6 drove to Estancia El Cordor
with the humboldt (south, then east of airport). Sharing time,
manger is toward Antuco's Chile closely.
In the attic
of their house found one cluster of the giant Hystotus (maestue?)
at the peak where 2 rafters meet the ridgepole, about 3 of them
available by hand, and 2 or 3 more with forceps. Probably
missed one of them. In a side attic Anita found a
cluster hanging in the open, about a dozen, one of them
Hystotus montanus and the other maestue?. Caught all.
They were not quite wild animals. This was about 8 p.m.
almost all with newborn young, 12/2/99, a few not preg.
Then looked for red bats in conifers, montanas etc, but
found none.
