supported by trees. Very few weasels, just before dark I put out 18 big Sherman's at good holes at the base of tree and cactus in a sea of senedelas. Also 16 large Sherman's along a stone wall around an olive grove which was a sea of vast-high weeds. Anita put 20 traps along its gallery in senedelia salutat. Fosotrichia in flocks of a dozen, but heard singing twice (maybe same individual). Crimson flycatcher, 2 sizes doves, burrowing owls, small humming heard Petropora, 2 sparrow hawks, barred barn owl. There are said to be turmorous. March 24 Night warm, clear, dew on car but bushes dry. Only captives were 3 large Rattus rattus along the stone wall around the olives. A Barouze and breeding owls. Boxes at 2 burrowing owl holes revealed akodon, leviucosa, Oryzomy's?, Mus, and a quite small creature such as Phyllotis amens. Other plants common are a small tobacco that they call taboilla. The flowers of the ligure tree are very sticky, arranged in spikes like bubbleys but smaller, have a fairly yellow tongue with red design, Stamona [illegible] close at. Got 40 small Sherman's about 11 a.m. in the muddy pasta olive grove, some near the brook, others along wall about 30 yds from brook. A few in lush green grass, and some in a taller deambos-grass. March 25 2 mi. E. Atiquipa. Evening cloudy but clear before A.M. Dew on grass so that few Bidens stuck. Much dew on car.
