In ventin (8:30) his rected temp was 4.0°, air 2" above ground
7.5°, soil surface 8.2°, a nearby test box showed 6°. During the
50-minute observation period, there was little or no wind, it was cloudy, 6½° ambient temp., soil surface (war board) 5°, dry bulb-
wet bulb 43°-35°, down south in slight cloud
cover, stroking a wool scarf elicited static sparks.
March 15
Compared temps of food & human in sun and shade (see data).
at 11:00, saw a finger-nail sized food crossing the road, walking
and hopping, air warm but overcast. at 10:30 wet-bull dry-bull
was 44°-57°. it covered about 10 feet in a few (3?) minutes
and ended up in a test box dump.
at about 4:30 pm walked around looking for toads,
saw none. I was not lifting stones, however.
March 19
Night was so "warm" and humid ad still that I crawled
around for about 20 minutes at 4:10 am (wet bulb-dry bulb both
37°) looking for toads with jacklight, saw none.
at 9:10 looked under the big flowered food rock NE of camp;
big toad was at home, his temp. 8-9°.
