by Octodonta . The traps along the walls held only one toad. at 10 all 15 walked or rood up to the end of the road at the Sorpenta, then all hiked up to a ridge above Alfarito at 2900 m. Vegetation still dense same as in Tilcara . Petrogonus gigas sitting on nest in a willow tree 15 ft. up at Alfarito. just before dark put 35 museum specials along a stone wall along the river (west bank) about 2 km north of the bridge. Vegetation: cartodera shrubs, weeds, a few willows. Ring set some rat traps and some Sherman. Jan-31 Rain during night. my traps held 1 mouse, numerous spring empty. Ring had 3 andivoys in rat traps. Various applications during the day, and then at 7-8 pm set 35 museum specials with corn! along stonewall in an outwash between the town and the luceria. [illegible] also about 20 Sherman large & small and rat traps. Some opuntias, cardon, small willow, a few bucleas and berbas, and 2 patches of corn. not much mouse sign. Feb.1 Rat traps 7 a.m. 5 Phyllotis, some of them at least Ph. copeyinos . Except for the bushy mollies, habitated not really brushy. Ring with assorted large Sherman and rat traps caught nothing. [illegible] In afternoon drove to Leon and set museum specials and rat traps in various brushy and weedy habitats. also 12 museum specials near marsh near Tambaya.
