Drove back to mar del zur where, just before dark I set 35 Sherman in thick grass around a swale along the road. Spent the night in a house in mar del zur. However nesting - birding everywhere. Chinargos counting. Saw lots of good tree swallows- but nuthatch tucos, Apr 21. 2 abobras in my traps. morning foggy. Drove north along the coast, stopping to look for tucos - meraxes at Lo. Beell (too many people, ducks too loose? for many tucos, although lots of tucos on the shoulders of the roads etc.), Ostende, Pinaro etc. By far the best place was at Valeria del Sur, a little south of Pinaros. Huge duck - flying plantings of Acacias, pines etc., near Pinaros - Ostende, dut on the inland side of these just before the forward begins we found a few hundred acres of sparsely vegetated dunes, with ponds or richer vegetation in the hollows. Tucos sparsely distributed, a few per hectare; they go in some places way up into the dunes. At one fumece their tracks went 12 meters from the side, with beach grass cut off short on wind side. Hard quite pale, surely if these are dark tucos like mygdonia and Santa Clara del Sur, they are very conspicuous (and completely ignored). Golofin found pellets with tucos, hare, and mouse in them. We saw - penguins fideos?, another pigeon hawk, snake, lizard, aeromyrmex ants working hard in a very sparse vegetation, here, yellow-ringed blackbird,
