at 7 a.m. climbed part way up the first canyon east of the threnda and found one beautiful cave made by a large overhanging slab over which water will cascade in the rainy season, lots of ferns in the cave and one summer snail. We saw only one hummer in Dorist Canyon - a female bathing in the stream. The stream is loaded with aquatic mollusks but apparently no trout. Left at 1 pm and camped in a sterile field a few miles short of threnda, no traffic out july25 Left about 8 for Cuzco, arriving 5:30 pm july26 with dysentery during the night. Andly to Muchu Pichche, Stansied slides etc. july27 Left about 8 a.m. for Alorway, delayed 1 1/2 hrs by trouble unset - spilling passengers & cargo 500 ft into gorge, Camped at 12,600 ft at dusk a little before the pass down into Alorway (18 km NE Alorway), put about 50 Sheranz among scattered boulders, a large boecbariz, low, thorny chubbs, and plowed fields interspersed with grass. Night clear at first, then partly cloudy. july28 Nothing in my traps. Andly caught 2 big Ph-darwinii, Left about 7 a.m. for Alorway (9:30), then towards Parquino & Camped at 22 km S. Chalhuarcam (10,700 ft) - beauty grazed grass, scarily, a few stone walls, saw torrent ducks twice on stones in the middle of the river, at about one below Chalhuarc
