P. PEARSON 1950 15 and reconnoitering. Walking for 2 to 3 hours I saw very few of the 9 bird species. One Tyrannus melancholicus which I shot, a few pairs of Columb-zelgia passerina, one pair of [illegible], 2 Crotophaga and heard about 3 cones of quail. Mourning doves are by far the most numerous birds - many flocks of 10-20. I have seen no flocks of this size at other camps. Temp at noon 29, cloudy. All morning cloudy-bright. Quite humid, maybe 80%. Concerning the unseasonal rainfall this year, the following is a quotation from "Semana" (Bogota imitation of "Time") vol. Picked up trap line in dense thorn woods and put it in slightly more open country - grass with clumps of thorn + cactus every few yards: more area of brush
