P. PEARSON 1950 7 to be alligator. Heavy rain at about 9 p.m. and off and on most of night. at least 1/2 inch. June 12 One large bird Sigmodon in trap line. Morning cloudy, clearing about noon. Temp. in breeze under tarp 30° Most of day birding + skimming. Went jacklighting after dinner and got 2 rabbits. Saw 1 other and a poor will • Light shower during night. Practically no 8-oclock bat flight June 13 Nothing in traps. Skinned rabbits + birds. Temp. at noon 31° in breeze under tarp. Two incessably light showere in afternoon. Finally spotted and got some Dyrallbris, but in peering into the tangle where one of them was chipping stuck my nose into moas? territory and was nipped either once or twice on the end of the nose. Whole face all puffed up and still can hardly see out either eye, and on top of that couldn't find the gorads in the dyrallbria leaves stalking. George et al. went to Mena this path up fourth etc., but couldn't get enough gas to get back, so are spending the night in Mena. Put out a new trap line along stream in wooded region. No big trees, quite dry. Went jacklighting after supper. Had seen nothing when I heard the mojos calling me. Went back to the tents and learned that they had seen a bob only 10 feet from the cook tent. Despite the shouting and commotion it had only retreated about 40 yrs, where I shot it. A musking & with grasshoppers + bird in stomach. Pupils round.
