Pearson 1951-1952 Strong's peromyscus Dec 17 Ante a few times with guinea pigs near the flare side of Camps Wellbottle. Ante saw 4 at once and I watched 3 striking their heads up from the same low mound, all within 15 feet of each other. They offered much more shuttles this morning than last night, and were bubbling beautifully, especially just before a coast dive. They differ from germin in bubbling in being less shy (and at least spending some time looking out of their burrows), and in coming out onto the surface to feed. They seem not to have to burrow so much as germins, for several (at least 3) will be found lying among a set of burrows with no signs of recent digging. Ante saw a guinea pig entering from a tunnel (but that being a tree go into a tunnel only 2 feet from a guinea pig. Neither two nor more pigs appeared in the morning until well after sunrise and the temp had risen above freezing.
