PEARSON 1951 April 26 snow, hail, and rain from about 5 to 7, but only about ½ of it which promptly melted when sun came out. Put out 60 museum specials in open pine - short grass, baited with walnuts. Owl hunting after supper, heard several hammers but couldn't locate them. Temp 3° at 9 p.m., clear. April 27 Cloudy up during night, temp 3° at 5:30. Tripled had one tree sparrow and one chipping sparrow. Looked for salamanders under stones and in big heap of decaying pine needles beside pool. Lots of earthworms, no salamanders. Tilden Park May 1 Anita & I put 85 Sherman & Benson live traps in Tilden Park, some near beginning of dog run (Inspiration Point) and some North of Brant's 20 acre area near cattail pool along fire road. All in grass - Comin - weeds. Set for Keitho May 2 Total catch about 8 Meritua and 4 Peromyscus. Left traps out. May 3 Rain during night. Total catch about 6 Meritua and 5 Peromyscus. May 5 Put 60 live traps and 15 museum specials in grass - Comin - weeds in 3 places along the Inspiration Point - Corna road in Comin - grass - weeds. May 6 Caught 14 Peromyscus, 5 Meritua, 1 Keitho. Left traps set.
