1949 O. P. PEARSON (alt) (1812-1814) Pet Kines, 3000 ft., 11.5 mi NE of Burney, Shasta Co., Calif. October 5, 1949 1815 ♀ Corynorhinus rafinesquii captured Oct. 4, 3 p.m. in Cholla tunnel. Torpid. 1816♀ in same tunnel. Middle small-sized. Rt. horn larger than left. No partly blind retinae. Some fat. Vaginal area: many sperm, abundant lamellated epithelial many of them curled and irregular but most smooth with pink-grey medusa. No cornified; no bulbos. May have been mated with 1817 and embedding 1816 ♀ Corynorhinus rafinesquii captured at 18:15. Awake. Testes 6 mm. Epididymis 6 x 3 mm. Abortion of sperm in epididymal accessory large, 7 mm across. Sm. ves. 5 mm long. Posterior and medial lobes of prostate very white. No fat. Seminal tubules exhausted; single layer of basal cells; no mitoses; a few sperm left in many tubules; very little interstitial tissue; many sperm in sperm. Carcel, 3100 ft., Shasta Co., Calif. Oct. 5 1817 ♀ Corynorhinus rafinesquii captured in old house, 7:15 p.m. Torpid - middle median, smaller size. Very fat under skin and in abdominal cavity. Ovary pinkish, rt. horn larger. In semen: abundant VE, mostly smooth-edged with pink-lacunar nuclei. Some bulbos, no sperm, no cornified. 1818 ♀ Corynorhinus rafinesquii captured at 18:17 but in separate room. Torpid - middle small. Very fat. In semen: VE with smooth edges and pink-lacunar nuclei; no sperm, no bulbos, no cornified. Sulphur Springs, 4300 ft., Shasta Co., Calif. October 5 1819 ♀ Corynorhinus rafinesquii gone, torpid, 10 a.m. No other Carpy present. Middle tiny. Very fat. Ovary alkalized compared with 1815-1717. Rt. horn longer. Vaginal area: many sperm; VE mostly curled and even with dark nuclei. No cornified. No bulbos. Possibly mated with 1819 or embedding Carcel, Monterey Co., Calif. Oct. 7 1820 ♀ Lepus ornatus ornatus 109 x 39 x 13 x 8 Sent in by J.A. Welling, caught by cat Oct. 5 in Monterey Carcel, Monterey Co., Calif. Testes 4 mm.
