O.P. PEARSON 1949 8 Aug 22 in broken down road. Sound of slot flanked corey of just out of young Doug fir and one Peromyscus at my feet. One more Clothronongs, 5 Peromyscus, and 1 young Meotus in traps. Left after breakfast for the big prairie around Schoolhouse Peak. Set 49 oatmeal-baited Shermana and 6 Museum Specials mostly along a wet sedge seep but a few out in grass, the edge about 100 yds from a torqne of oaks in a ravine. Watched ground squirrels and Murray I found 2 Myotis erebus in rock crevices. Put out two gopher traps around camp and caught one before supper. Early supper and drove with Murray + Cogswell to Schoolhouse Peak. Just before dark set about 30 oatmeal-baited Museum Specials in moist woods on north slope near cattle gap east of the five stages. Woods in Doug. fir, madrone, and tan oak, with thick duff, rotten logs, etc. Many tunnels etc. Most sets were "Blarina" sets at natural holes or holes poked into tunnels. Sat by water trough until dark but saw only one bat didn't drink. Lights of Euscevaria ble. Aug 23 Trip line in sedge seep in prairie caught 2 Sorex vagrans, 1 Mictus californicus, and 6 Peromyscus. Nothing except 1 Peromyscus out in grassy prairie. The line in woods on north slope caught 4 Peromyscus, 1 Clothronong, crossed 1 Metopus fusipes, and 1 Sorex trowbridgii. Put about 20 more museum specials in this line. The remains of the Clothronongs line at French Camp caught nothing
