PEARSON 1949 67 at their camp. After supper with Bernie and her comps-mate [ Joan? from near Hastings reservation ] we all went jacklighting at the neesed place . Saw nothing. July 4 Traps held near Longyearz and 1 Meretue [ in woods ] along stream. Home about 10 a.m. after looking for bats [ none ] in mine tunnel on North of road about 1/2 mi W of Longear. July 12 Left after lunch with Anita, Mary, et ali for meals at Guetino + Nemman. Much driving around these towns. Set traps at dusk, 1 at Schoolhouse between Nemman + Guetino and 3 near our sleeping place on a road running east about 2 mile or 2 south of Guetino. This road runs through flat unkempt -looking country and marshes. Many jack rabbits, some mosquitoes at dusk. Drove about 40 miles after dark on roads around Guetino and saw 22 jack + bunny rabbits, 1 young opossum (about ground- squirrel size) and 1 Meretue. The traps set more new wooden meal traps. July 13 No traps springing. Up & down and drove more looking for meals around Guetino-Nemman. No traps springing. Talked with numerous people. Heard and smelled bats in Nemman in an old brick building at corner where road to river branches off main road. Bldg was being used for storage by Simon Nemman. Saw 1 Mered ruin in p.m. Set 4 wooden meal + 5 Harbert traps along the same marsh road as last night. Slept in wheat field east of Nemman Guetino.
