P. PEARSON 1949 Looked in the oven kitchen at Acta Springs. About 60 Cory there, mostly in 2 clusters. Awoke quickly. One male, rather torpid, hanging by himself. Caught one cluster which was all ♀♀. Landed about 10, and released others ¼ mi. down the road. Many landed repeatedly on trunks of scattered oaks. No banded bats caught or seen. Stopped at Angwin but no bats in either winery building. Appendix: Lucerne Thysanodes band numbers: 446-16831, 446-16839, 46-16891 San Quentin, Marin Co., Calif. april 17 left 4:30 p.m. with Bob Lewis, Set 130 Sherman + Benson two-traps in Dalecornia and Dalcornia-grass. Batted with oatmeal for Microtus, finished setting about 7 p.m. at 9:30 had 6 Microtus, despite fact that marsh was much drier than previously and with no really fresh droppings or cuttings. 5 of the 6 in the east end of the north marsh - which has consistently been the most profitable terrain. at 8:45† caught one Myotis gurneensis hanging (but not yet torpid) from ceiling in west gallery of brick kiln. Saw no others. Looked in center “five-chamber”, a long tube accessible by 2 man-holes on top of kiln, but no bats. Seems a good place though. No more bats at 10:30 p.m., but saw 2 flying in west gallery at 2 a.m.
