P. PEARSON 4 chipmunks making a total of 8 in the morning, 5 of them in artemisia and 3 in mahogany... appearently all same kind. There were 3 more in these traps in the P.M.: 2 in artemisia and 1 in mahogany. Picked up those traps in P.M. Saw a cottontail in the mountain mahogany this morning. Drove to Bridgeport at lunch time - half hour drive each way, I continue to catch (and shoot) nothing but young appearing chipmunks. July 24 The original 35-trap line caught 4 Pameins, 2 Mierstra longicardus and 1 [illegible] sp. The 49-traps line caught 1 Mierstra, 1 Pameins, 1 [illegible] sp, 3 L. palmatris, and 2 Jepsons, one of which was caught by the trail and curled up in hibernating position. I'd later recovered. Hoped to get off by lunchtime but many chipmunks and a porcupine shot this morning while cony-hunting slowed things down. Found mole trochs in the aspen grove below the meadow, so we stayed overnight after Benson set for the moles. But shooting as usual in evening. July 25 One mole and a gopher in the moles traps. Couldn't trail down the mountain Mahogany in Jepson. Saved specimen of it and [illegible] Left about 9 AM? for Bridgeport, Brockie, anvra, and Fletcher, looked for bats in
