Feb. 20 Night above freezing, light rain began in early a.m.
Bear Creek Rd. traps held 1 Mycerotus and about 4 Perthro.
Orinda traps 1 Micerotus, 2 Jorep ornatua, and 12 Reutho.
Many of mine near a cat-tail paddle were springing by sleaze.
Four of the Reuthros were dead in the traps, and 13drew. other
shrew [illegible] and one 7 Micerotus died soon after. Total
2 Mcerotas, 2 Jorep ornatua/6 Reuthro, 99 traps. 0 hmaius.
Feb 22 with many San Quentin + Corte Moderno, Marin Co
started at about 10 a.m. put 49 Benson and 50 Shermon
live traps baited with oat meal in Salicornia marsh
at junction of San Quentin road and route 101. also
40 shermson in a salt - bay marsh just east of
route 101 at Corte Moderno? Then drove to Muir
Woods in rain to look for bats in hollow trees.
Looked with flashlights in several dozen burned out
hollow redwood trees. Many of them dry, dark, and cozy,
but few with large enough cavities to house large
colonies of bats. Saw numerous moths and spiders
but no bats.
Checked the San Quentin traps at 2 p.m. and
found 1 Micerotus and 1 Jorep (dead). Many droppings,
cut pieces of Salicornia, and runways in both places.
Feb 23 Checked traps at 10 a.m. Two Reuthro megolates
two and 1 dead Micerotus in the salt bay marsh at
Corte Moderno (plus several spring traps), 4 dead and
11 live Micerotus, 2 Jorep (alive), and 2 Reuthros (alive)
megolates. Several (~10) sprung but empty Shermans
