P. PEARSON 1949 43 descend. This hole is about 20 yards left of road, 4 1/2 miles east of Cassel. Then drove to the Pit I Power Station on the Pit River 1 1/2 mi NE Burney to investigate some tunnels in chalk cliff. Picked up a boy, Danny Shipley, who directed me to them: along the road that goes past the tennis court near the village below the power station. The tunnels (3 of them) are cut out along the road a few hundred yards downstream from the tennis courts. Found 2 Cory's tarperd in the nearest of the 3; one of the Corys loaded with moratuus. Danny says he has found bats on the floor of the tunnel underneath. Then home. arrived 1 a.m. left Burney about 6. Mipple sizes of HF from this trip: tiny 18 small 7 medium 9 large 33 If this is a x-section of population if mipple size is a good age-character and if sex ratio is 50-50, then the 18 tiny (young) must have come from > 33 large (adults), hence medium-mipples must be adults. These 33+9 = 42 adults probably didn't raise 18+7=26 young, so it may be that small mipples are adult also. :: 50 adults and 18 young.
