P. PEARSON 1948 37 8:30 - 2 hanging together, not mounted, one awake, one torpid. 8:45 - 3 together, 1 other about 2 inches away. No copulatory motions. 9:10 - Same 2 together, look to look, both look awake. 9:20 - " " " " 9:40 - Only 1 left, a q with no signs of recent copulation. Saw no Mygmos. Perhaps last night's were right roosting and tonight too cold for outdoor flight. Mon. 7 Went back to Enchury Cave about 10:30 am (PST). covg. Counted 10 cov in south branch and 4 in north. Returned 4 males captured Mon. 6 to south branch and took 2 males from north. Didn't look in long branch of north tunnel. Thus, when I left there were at least 12 Cov in the 2 caves, at least 4 of which were males. The highest count in these 2 caves was 22 qq and 13 DD, of which I took 10 qq and 2 DD. Hence theoretically remaining are 12 qq 11 DD. at noon went back to "Parish" cave (300yds SE of Ice Cave). Counted 30 Cov look to where ceiling lowers to squat-level, probably missed seeing many because ceiling is rough. Removed 6 qq and 2 DD to take back to Berkeley. Mature say the road from Redding via Montgomery Lake is often closed in winter, but that one can always get as far as Old Elkhorn . from the north via Redding + Burney.
