July 22 The 49 trap traps along the stream had the following score: 6 Zophera, 6 Microtina longicaudus, 1 Microtina montana, 4 Peromyscus, 1 Perogratthus, 2 Sorex sp., and 6 Sorex Palustris - total 26. The original line of 35 traps along the other stream: 3 Microtina montana, 2 Mm. longicaudus, 3 Peromyscus, 1 Zophera. The original line trap line had 1 Sorex palustris in same hole as 1001, and 1 Microtina longicaudus. The chipmunk lines of live traps as follows: 19 in grass - 3 Peromyscus and 1 Lagurus (baby) 19 in artimesia - 2 " and 1 " adult (caged) 44 Mahogany - 2 Peromyscus. 16 more in artimisia behind camp - 4 Peromyscus, 2 Lagurus (babies) and 1 Perogratthus. No chipmunks in this line in A.M., but 4 more in it at 2 P.M.; 4 young ones, probably E. x shot 3 others in mahogany region at 2:30 P.M. The 49-trap line caught 2 Microtina longi and 1 Sorex palustris during the day. One of this morning's Zophera was caught by the base of the tail - apparently dead. Later removed (see Zophera notes) Shot a Mygtha after dusk, too dark to read newsprint.
