P. PEARSON 1949 77 1572 q Corynorhinus rafinesquie caught March 19 1 mi. NE Sutter Bank Mine, air 55°. Torpid. In basement until 1484+1485. Operated April 17, quite vascular, healthy - looking spermid swelling in rt. horn 4 ½ mm. drain: Killed May 27. Mipple medium, not pty. Rt. horn larger than left but not swollen. Rt. ovary with small+ medium follicles, left ovary poorly with corpora 9.0g. Aetna Mine, 1100 ft., Napa Co, Calif. May 29, 1949 1573 ♂ Corynorhinus rafinesquie caught 11 a.m. May 29 in burrow from roof of 2 tunnels at sharp bend. Torpid. Only bot found within tunnel but breeding colony in adjacent tunnel. Killed 9:30 a.m. May 30. Tail of epid easily pulled in this movement. accessory small, 4 ½ mm across, seminal visicle s.v. 2 mm. long. Testis pale, firm, 6mm. spermid 4mm, many sperm in epid. smear but no motile ones seen in water smear. No fat. In sections: spermid packed with sperm. Individual interstitial cells large but not a large amount of interstitial tissue. Many spermatozoa? dimensionous and a few very large spermatogonial dimensions, but no sperm or bde in testis tubule. 4 ½ 8.6 g. 1574 ♀ Corynorhinus rafinesquie preg? caught 11 a.m. in tunnel with lactating and nursing ♂♀ and young from 2.2 g. to 4.6. This one apparently not preg. or lactating. Banded Killed 10 a.m. May 30. Was banded and killed 1 month ago. 161787. Mipple small, Uterus small, rt. horn very slightly ticker than left, ov. not comparatively white- streaked. Ovaries quite large with tiny follicles, no corpora or med. foll seen under dissecting scope. Rt. horn 1mm. ant.-post. In sections: left ovary with small incomplete corpus luteum, much interstitial tissue, no large or med. follicles. Many leucocytes + nucleated epithelial cells in uterus. 8.7g. Baby 1575 ♂ Corynorhinus rafinesquie 60x23x10x19x16 ³m 3.6g Forearm 23mm. Fuzzy. Separated from mother about noon May 29, killed 12 a.m. May 30. Bladder very full. Testis vascular, 3mm, epid. protracted, accessory tiny < ½ mm. Abdomen 14.5mm long. In sections: tubule small mature. Interstitial cells large, much interstitial tissue Baby 1576 ♀ Corynorhinus rafinesquie intermedius 55x18x10x15x11³m 2.6g. Born just before or just after capture noon May 29. Umbilicus still attached. Baby able to "chip" and chirp. Weighed 2.6 g at that time. When killed May 30 10 a.m. after being separated from mother weighed 2.6g. Forearm 17.5mm, no fuzz. Umbilicus dry but still attached when killed. Abdomen 17.5 mm long.
