Peromyscus P. PEARSON 1948 Aug 28 Two on the doorstep of the house at Bix, Harbor between 9:30 + 10 p.m. (D.S.T.), another slightly after 10, and still another later in the night. Aug 29 Of the above 4, one was a ♂ with large testes (11mm., tubules not visible), one a preg female, not yet with adult pelage, one a lactating female, and one a juvenile not saved. Aug 30 Caught 12 in about 120 traps, but many lures stolen by ants. All traps were rebated in a.m., but not all in p.m. Aside from those just set up, there are 4 adult males, 2 imm ♀♀, and 1 imm ♂. Caught a few by hand near the house while jacklighting. Aug 31 Have collected 2 so far with of tremendous size for a Peromyscus maniculatus, both with rather scarred tail and thin fur - perhaps old age and perhaps not. Sept 7 All adults have large testes or are pregnant Sept 7 A skunk today had a Peromyscus almost toto in its stomach Sept 11 Caught one weighing only 15 gms, yet in adult pelage, another weighing 18 gms (skin saved) was still in gray/pelage, yet had large uterine horns, large vasculosa ovaries etc. Sept 12 Heard bawn owl
