Child's 1959 Whales 15 July Enroute to Barrow from Patuxent River One small whale, probably gray whale, seen washed up south of Pt. Lay. Another much larger, probably Barbed, seen on beach south of Skull Cliff. 19 July 5 or more large black whales were seen this a.m. while I was on trawline. 21 July Wainwright, Alaska at least 5 offshore 1 mile seeming to feed along the edge of the muddy water spreading out from the inlet. 3 Aug Patuxent River (Cape Sable, Alaska) 4-5 offshore. 7 Aug Several regularly offshore-probably Gray. Water found shrimp abundant along shore—also Cagelis.
