June 10 Patmege River, Cape Sabine, Alaska
One seen on the lagoon south of the river and
another in the stream just west of Big A.
20 June Tracks seen on mud flat near river mouth.
29 June Fresh tracks seen in mud at Fallen
Rock mine rain 3 days ago
10 July We got our first look at one in drawings
S NW of Lone Marsh, our way to Thetis
Creek. It smelled no first as we were up-
wind and ran like hell for as far as we could
see!
12 July One came past our water hole during the night
but did not go after the cabin near the tent.
One of our trap bags was torn and traps
scattered at T6-10. Two traps were
chewed—probably by a grizzly.

Tracks seen here and along most of
the river when looked for.
